Art at Romolslia School
Artist: Solveyg W. Schafferer (1984).
Schafferer's statues and groups of figures often show children playing and other day-to-day situations. Most of her works are in the naturalistic tradition, but with some simplification of the figures. They often have humorous features and the texture surface may be a bit rough. The sculpture is lively and presents children's interests and vivacity in an appealing way. Schafferer was born in Austria, but moved to Trondheim with her family in April of 1939. She later started at the Art School at Øya in Trondheim, and made her debut as a graphic artist and sculptor in Trondhjems Art Association in 1950. She was later a student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo under Per Palle Storm.
