The First Day of School
Artist: Petter Leth-Olsen (1977).
The sculpture is also called Mor og barn (Mother and Child), because it portrays a mother on her way to school with her son. It was a gift from the artist to Trondheim Municipal Authority on the opening of Solbakken School. Leth-Olsen grew up on the outskirts of Trondheim by Jonsvatnet (a lake). He was a businessman and a musician, who also painted and made sculptures in concrete.
