Art in Rye Kindergarten

'Gleipne'. Artist: Maja Nilsen 2008. Art consultant: Gry Ullrichsen
Maja Nilsen is an artist who has used Norse mythology and history in her project at Rye kindergarten. In the two departments, Stubban and Tua, Nilsen worked on the 5 m long and 4 m tall walls. For her public art project, she drew on Norse mythology, and how Gleipnir, the chain that ties Fenrir the wolf, was created. The strong chain ensured that the wolf was kept calm, preventing him from creating Ragnarok, the end of this world. On one of the walls, the drawing consists of six elements of the chain and the blending together of these. The history continues on the other wall, where the remains of the chain are interweaved and fade away.
