Art - Carl Adolf Dahl

Artist: Stinius Fredriksen 1930.

The statue of city engineer Carl Adolf Dahl (1828–1907) was originally placed close to the railway station, but was later moved to Fosenkaia (Fosen Pier). This placement is not accidental. As the first city engineer in Trondheim, Dahl came to have great importance for the technical development of the city. He provided the city with modern waterworks, built Gamle bybro (the old city bridge, also called "Lykkens portal" – Fortune’s Gate) and the park areas in Småbergan. But he is remembered for his work with the docks at Brattøra. The monument was made by Stinius Fredriksen, who won a competition for the assignment. It was unveiled during the Olav anniversary in 1930.
