Art - Female Sculpture, Kalvskinnet

Artist: Arne Durban 1960s.
Durban’s production was comprehensive and primarily consisted of interiors and portrait sculptures, generally made in bronze. He is particularly known for his sculptures of children and women. In accordance with classical ideals, he worked in a naturalistic form. He often used the classical position motif contrapposto (counter-pose) for these female sculptures. Durban attached great importance to formal elements, employing sober lines and beautiful polished surfaces, and his works are characterized by tranquil harmony. He was once a student of Wilhelm Rasmussen.
