Art - Integration

Artist: Arnold Haukeland (1974).
Two elements made from steel constitute the main sections of this abstract revolving sculpture. A motor revolves the two elements at different speeds around a common axis. Haukeland's sculptures radiate energy and play with the surrounding space. They convey movement and speed. This sculpture is a smaller version of the one bearing the same name that stands in Freia Park in Oslo. The artist, born in Verdal (about 100 kilometres north of Trondheim), and was a student at NTH. When after the war he received a sculpture assignment at the Cathedral, he stopped his studies. Haukeland became the leading light in the development of abstract sculpture in Norway.
