Art - Rostrum
Artist: Bjørn Melbye Gulliksen (1993).
Talerstolen (The Rostrum) was placed at the University Campus at Dragvoll in connection with its second construction stage. The sculpture is highly visible on a hillock, and looks like a small temple. The columns and the stone figure fragments may provide associations with various epochs in art history, including antiquity and the Middle Ages. In its combination with modern materials and techniques, it appears to be a preserved historical monument. A narrow staircase leads from the rostrum on the hillock towards the open space below. The open space is dominated by another of the artist's works, a long "water gully" supplied with water from a jar.
