Art - The Seven Stones

Artist: Gerald W. Siler (1984).
This abstract sculpture was made by American-born Gerald Siler, who is now settled at Støren. The sculpture is placed in the grassy area between the buildings as part of the design of the open space. It consists of seven blocks of stone, four light-coloured (granite from Støren) and three dark ones (larvikite). The artist often uses ancient ideas about the magical power of stone as the basis for his work. As the stones are placed here, they are slightly reminiscent of the giant stone monuments (megaliths) erected in the Younger Stone Age.
