Art - Two Cylindrical Sculptures
Artist: Hilmar Fredriksen (1995).
In 1994, a competition was held for decoration of the university college building. Fredriksen won with his non-figurative sculpture placed as a lattice over the ventilation grid by the main entrance of the college section. The clear colours yellow, blue and green contrast with the rust-coloured iron underneath, giving a strong signal effect. Fredriksen has undertaken varied artistic activities, ranging from the simple to the dramatic, which often have a subtle message. The artist has had many public decoration assignments and is a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo.
