Art - Water Music
Water Music. Artist: Fritz Røed (1981).
This fountain sculpture displays fauns making music. There is another sculpture with the same motif at Blomstertorget (the Flower Square) in Bryne in southwest Norway, where the artist comes from. Fritz Røed belongs to a generation of Norwegian sculptors who from the 1950s created a number of works in connection with the comprehensive housing construction project after the war. In line with the prevailing political sentiments of the time, these artists aimed to make sculptures that were first and foremost intended as "art for all".
