Skansen Bridges

The Skansen Bridges are two of the many characteristic bridges in Trondheim. Both are movable bridges that close on occasional requests from boats. The new swing bridge connects Brattøra with Ila and has made the harbour area more accessible for pedestrians and cyclists.
The old railway bridge is engineered by Joseph B. Strauss, who also was the engineer behind Golden Gate Bridge i San Francisco.
Both bridges are snapshot-friendly, when the water is calm.
Closing of the bridges seldom last for more than a few minutes. Warnings are given by signs and by speaker before the gates are closing.
