Art in Gjørtlervegen Kindergarten
Artists: Erlend Leirdal & Octavio Gil Villegas 2006/2007. Art Consultant: Oddvar Vinje.
As there is a forest just a short distance from Gjørtlervegen kindergarten at Havstad, it is natural that the children have been provided with carved wooden figures: a fox, a black woodpecker, a dragon, a boat, a halibut, and the waterfall from the fairytale, ‘Three Billy Goats Gruff’. The figures are grouped near to one of the entrances and furnish the children with inspiration for imaginative play in the animal kingdom. Erlend Leirdal has created an exciting work of art with his pigmented figures in oak. Indoors, in the health centre, the playground is visible through the large windows. Octavio Gil Villegas has strengthened the visual image by drawings attached to the glass, in combination with red and yellow surfaces. The line drawings are in a simple, naive form.
