Art - Lademoen Park

Artists: Viel Bjerkeset Andersen & Are Røysamb 2008. Art consultant: Edith Lundebrekke.
Lademoparken was extended and renovated through the collaboration of artists, landscape architect Brit S. Johnsen from Asplan Viak AS, landscape gardeners, and other professionals. ‘We wanted to keep the soul of the park, but poked about in all beds, and changed both landscape and light’, Viel Bjerkeset Andersen recounts. There have been a number of changes in the light condition. The park is now more open, letting more light in, yet at the same time sheltered areas are created, among them a sloping lawn where the old trees form a roof. Foliage is also present at the Lilac Portal (Syrinportalen), adjacent to the Anders Buen monument, whilst the spot Bjørneplassen, where the bear sculpture created by Karl Johan Flaathe is placed, constitutes a third peaceful place in the park. A significant change of light took place with the new artificial lights, based on indirect reflected light, which were planned and installed by the artists. In winter most people walk on the prepared paths, the central one being ‘Lovers’ Lane’.
