Art - Upside Down
Artist: Kåre Groven (1992).
Four strongly abstracted human figures in playful activity are seen against the architecture surrounding the sculpture. An expatriate of Trondheim, Groven has made public decorations in several places in Norway, for example for the Olympic Games at Lillehammer in 1994. These include the Man with the Paper Airplane (Utkast- Sketch) at Oslo Airport, Gardermoen. In recent years he has worked extensively with natural stone, preferably in large dimensions. The stones are allowed to retain much of their character, but are subjected to small or large modifications that reinforce or change the expression. His sculptures often have a humorous quality.
