Student Budget and Student Loans

 

It’s all about surviving as a student! This is a monthly budget for the average student. 

 

Students in upper secondary school and students can apply for grants and loans from the Loan Fund (Lånekassen). You can receive up to NOK 106,340 in basic support during the academic year 2017–2018, spread over ten months. Full-time students can receive support for two additional weeks in June 2018, as part of the 11-month escalation of student support. The basic support is paid out as a loan, where 40 per cent of the loan can be converted into a grant. If you live at home during your studies, you are not entitled to make a loan grant. The maximum number of years with support from the loan fund is eight years.

Once you have obtained your studies, you can apply for scholarships and loans on the loan fund's website. The deadline for applying for scholarships and loans is November 15 for the fall semester and March 15 for the spring semester.
